Titre : | Language, Intertextuality and Subjectivity: Voices in the Construction of Consumer Femininity | Type de document : | texte imprimé | Auteurs : | Mary Talbot, Auteur | Editeur : | LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing | Année de publication : | 2010 | Importance : | 188 p. | Format : | 15 x 1.1 x 22 cm | ISBN/ISSN/EAN : | 978-3-8433-5859-0 | Langues : | Anglais | Mots-clés : | Consumer Femininity. | Résumé : | Women in industrialized societies have a lifelong relationship with consumerism. They are caught up in a 'consumer femininity', since a feminine identity involves, among other things, a particular mode of consumption. This study, presented in full for the first time in this volume, aims to stimulate critical awareness of consumer femininity. It culminates in sample analysis of a type of discourse that contributes to the formation of women as feminine subjects: the teen magazine. The book proposes an approach to doing critical discourse analysis that focuses on the constitution of a language user's subjectivity in the act of reading. Influenced by the early work of Norman Fairclough, it locates points of focus for taking up a critical (and specifically feminist) reading position in discourse analysis. In doing so, it seeks to provide theoretical and analytical grounding for a critical pedagogy that will take into the classroom attention to language and construction of language users' subjectivities.

Titre : | Rhetorics, Poetry, Translation : Figures of Speech in Hungarian Literature - Functional Research of Figures in Endre Ady’s Poetry | Type de document : | texte imprimé | Auteurs : | Tímea Kiss, Auteur | Editeur : | LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing | Année de publication : | 2014 | Importance : | 132.p | Format : | 22 cm. | ISBN/ISSN/EAN : | 978-3-659-66295-9 | Langues : | Anglais | Catégories : | LITTERATURE ET LANGUE ANGLAISE:828 English literature
| Résumé : | The aim of this book is to analyze the functions of figures in the poetry of one outstanding Hungarian poet from the modern period. The work examines the meaning-forming and structure organizing functions of figures in different periods of Endre Ady’s poetry. A complete study is not achievable, but this book can serve as an example for further stylistic research as well as stylistic research of text variants in different languages. The poem analyses are opened by a short overview of the thesis of devices / theory of figures. The parallel investigation gives the opportunity to show the differences and sameness of the figures and structures used in different languages. Readers get an overall picture of the difficulties of foreign language attempts when recreating Ady’s unique style. It can help teachers and students of high schools and universities to evolve the ability of functional style analysis during poem analysis. It might be practical for those who are interested in the equivalency of English and Italian target variants of the examined texts and how these texts are adequate or non-adequate with the source texts. |
