these modernist technique which borrowed from the Psychologist William James “The
Principle of Psychology”. William Faulkner uses this technique in the studied novel The Sound
and the Fury (1929). This dissertation examines the use of modern psychologist technique in
The Sound and the Fury. The purpose of this research is to study the modern narrative technique
employed by William Faulkner. More Accurately, this research seeks to investigate the use of
stream of consciousness particularly with the character of Benjamin. This Investigation
suggests that the use of different techniques such as stream of consciousness, fragmentation and
multiple points of view all serve Faulkner to achieve his goal of presenting highly modernist
novel and to achieve his innovative techniques. Faulkner uses and succeed in this technique in
multiple critics of narrators. Faulkner employs Stream of Consciousness at Benjy’s character
who had poor cognitive skills. Faulkner effectively uses stream of consciousness technique in
