Titre : | Smart stick for visually impaired people "SmartV" | Type de document : | document multimédia | Auteurs : | Bouchra Boukhalkhal, Auteur ; Anfal Hireche, Auteur ; Mohamed El Habib Maicha, Directeur de thèse | Editeur : | Laghouat : Université Amar Telidji - Département d'informatique | Année de publication : | 2023 | Importance : | 62 p. | Accompagnement : | 1 disque optique numérique (CD-ROM) | Note générale : | Option : System information and decision (Systèmes d'information et de décision) | Langues : | Anglais | Résumé : | This document presents the design and development of a smart stick specifcally designed to assist visually impaired individuals in their daily lives. The stick integrates a range of advanced features, including ultrasonic sensors, a high-resolution camera, and a water sensor, all powered by a Jetson Nano and a reliable battery system. Additional components, such as a speaker and a vibrator, enhance the functionality and usability of the device. By reviewing existing works on smart sticks for the visually impaired, this document proposes a new design that prioritizes affordability, lightweight construction, and universal accessibility. The smart stick aims to address the diverse needs of blind individuals, empowering them to navigate their surroundings safely and with increased independence. One of the key aspects discussed in this document is the choice of Python as the primary programming language for coding the smart stick. Leveraging the versatility and simplicity of Python, the smart stick can provide accurate obstacle detection and alert the user through a combination of auditory and tactile feedback. The integration of ultrasonic sensors enables the stick to detect obstacles within a certain range, while the camera captures real-time visual information to enhance the user’s situational awareness. The water sensor ensures that the device remains functional even in adverse weather conditions, preventing damage caused by exposure to moisture | note de thèses : | Mémoire de master en informatique |
