Titre : Translanguaging in EFL Contexts : A Call for Change Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Michael Rabbidge, Auteur Editeur : New York and London : Routledge Année de publication : 2020 Collection : Routledge Research in Language Education Importance : 1 vol. (193 p.) Présentation : ill., couv. ill. Format : 24 cm. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-367-67119-8 Langues : Anglais Catégories : LITTERATURE ET LANGUE ANGLAISE:420 Généralites et applications linguistiques ; LITTERATURE ET LANGUE ANGLAISE:428 phonetique et linguistique Résumé : The purpose of this book is to promote the value of translanguaging in EFL teaching contexts. To date, translanguaging has been discussed mostly in regards to US and European contexts. This book will examine the teaching beliefs and practices of teachers within a South Korean elementary school context to evaluate the practices of current teachers who use translanguaging strategies when teaching. This examination utilizes sociological theories of pedagogic discourse to discuss the consequences of language exclusion policies on the peninsula. Using these theories, it presents an argument for why EFL contexts like South Korea need to reevaluate their current policies and understandings of language learning and teaching. By embracing translanguaging as an approach the author argues they will transform their traditional notions of language learning and teaching in order to view teachers as bilinguals, and learners as emerging bilinguals, rather than use terms of deficiency that have traditionally been in place for such contexts. This book's unique use of sociological theories of pedagogic discourse supports a need to promote the translanguaging ideology of language teaching and learning. Titre : Translating Promotional and Advertising Texts Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Ira Torresi, Auteur Mention d'édition : 1e édition Editeur : New York and London : Routledge Année de publication : 2020 Collection : Translation Practices Explained Langue Importance : 1 vol. (211 p.) Présentation : ill., couv. ill. Format : 24 cm. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-138-56604-0 Langues : Anglais Catégories : LITTERATURE ET LANGUE ANGLAISE:420 Généralites et applications linguistiques Résumé : The translation of promotional and advertising texts requires the application of techniques which, although they vary depending on the specific text type, are all aimed at preserving their persuasive purpose. This often requires in-depth cultural adaptation and, on occasion, thorough rewriting. Translating Promotional and Advertising Texts covers the key types of promotional texts, including personal, business-to-business, institutional, business-to-consumer, and advertising.
With numerous examples from a wide variety of languages and media, taken from the author's own professional experience and observations, this volume is designed for use as a coursebook for classroom practice or as a handbook for self-learning. It also provides insight for research into promotional and advertising translation. This second, updated edition offers entirely new sections on self-promotion in social media, text analysis, and tools for the cross-cultural appraisal of promotional texts.
Revised with new examples, a glossary of terms, and activities and tasks on the Routledge Translation Studies Portal, this is the essential text for students, researchers, translators, and professionals working in copywriting, marketing, public relations, or related areas.

Titre : Afropolitanism and the Novel : De-realizing Africa Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Ashleigh Harris, Auteur Editeur : New York and London : Routledge Année de publication : 2020 Collection : Literary cultures of the global South Importance : 1 vol. (XI-198 p.) Présentation : ill. Format : 23 cm. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-367-23551-2 Note générale : Bibliogr. p. 185-194 Langues : Anglais Catégories : LITTERATURE ET LANGUE ANGLAISE:823 English fiction : novel Mots-clés : Roman africain Résumé : The place of the novel as a literary form in Africa is contested. Its colonial origins and its unaffordability for most Africans make it a bad fit for the continent, yet it was also central to the creation of most postcolonial African national literary canons. These bipolar traditions remain unresolved in recent debates about Afropolitanism and the novel in Africa today.
This book extends this debate, arguing that Africa's 'de-realization' in global representation and the global economy is reflected in the African novel becoming dominated by Afropolitan, rather than African, aesthetics, styles, and forms. Drawing on close readings of a variety of major African novels of the 2000s, the volume traces the tensions between the novel's complicity with and resistance to such de-realization. The book argues that current trends and experiments in African non-realist genres, such as science fiction, magical and animist realism, Afro-futurism, and speculative environmentalism, are the result of a preoccupation with such de-realization.
The volume is a significant exploration into literary form and its social, philosophical, political, and economic underpinnings. It will be a must-read for scholars, students, and researchers of African literature, politics, philosophy, and culture studies.Afropolitanism and the Novel : De-realizing Africa [texte imprimé] / Ashleigh Harris, Auteur . - [S.l.] : New York and London : Routledge, 2020 . - 1 vol.
