Not being aware of learning strategies and how to use them may lead to students’ failure. Since conducting research on learning strategies is difficult as they are not observable directly and selecting a reliable method is an issue, this paper aims to investigate the significant contribution to the development of learning strategies within Second Language Acquisition studies through reviewing three research-based related articles to adapt the findings to new research. Regarding different sections of this paper, it explains the learning strategies related to the new study and describes its pedagogical context. Moreover, it discusses the articles research strategies, research designs, methods of data collection and data analysis, validity, reliability and ethics separately. It also considers their shortcomings and suggests some solutions. Furthermore, conclusion and general implications for the new research project are discussed. Finally, it decides to conduct a case study design, employ mixed method research to collect more reliable data, apply action research and administer Strategy Inventory of Language Learning (SILL) questionnaire, use descriptive and content analysis and cross-check the findings in order to recognize students’ learning strategies usag Learning Strategies in Second Language Acquisition [texte imprimé] / J. Langues : Anglais Catégories : LITTERATURE ET LANGUE ANGLAISE:428 phonetique et linguistique Mots-clés : Applied Linguistics Language Learning Résumé : Basing his arguments on the developments in theoretical linguistics as well as his own experience in teaching and research, the author proposes a model of learning which could resolve differences which have for centuries divided thinkers in philosophy and linguistics, between extreme and modified views of the way that language and thought interact, one determining the other; and in language teaching between proponents of contending methodologies. He shows that such distinctions as those between language learners and language users, first language learners and foreign language learners are misleading. Cooperative Learning in Second Language Teaching is a comprehensive overview, suitable for MA TESOL programs and for in-service teachers. Part I provides a grounding for collaborative/cooperative learning by discussing the educational research, issues that surround its implementation, and how it relates to theories of second language learning. Part II is a series of six narrative chapters written by teachers from around the world. These teachers share their experiences using cooperative learning in their classrooms, demonstrating the effectiveness of this approach, in both second and foreign language contexts, for elementary, secondary and post-secondary levels of instruction. An appendix outlining the techniques in these chapters is also included.
